Pembroke College Cambridge

Mrs Susan Stobbs

Susan Stobbs was admitted to her Fellowship in 1995 as an undergraduate tutor, admissions tutor and supervisor in Physics. Previously she was a Fellow of Newnham where she graduated in Natural Sciences and, after being awarded the Tyson Medal in Part 3 Mathematics, undertook post graduate work in theoretical Astrophysics in DAMTP. Subsequently she worked in the Electron Microscopy Group in Materials Science where she was a Director of SAM, a small EM consultancy.

During her time at Pembroke she developed an interest in many aspects of College life, particularly tutorial wellbeing and widening participation of the admissions processes. She served on the Curator’s Committee as Silver Curator, the Buildings and Educational Committees and was Senior Treasurer of the Stokes Society and, as a Netball Blue, encouraged the development of several women’s university sports teams.

Upon retirement in 2008 she was elected as an Emeritus Fellow. Since then she has enjoyed trekking around the world and has become active in several community groups within the City.
