Art and Wine at the Keith Sykes Italian Serata

Pembroke recently had the pleasure of hosting Marco Pallanti for the annual Italian Serata. Marco Pallanti is one of Italy's most highly respect winemakers. With his wife Lorenza Sebasti he has turned the ancient Tuscan village of Ama into a cornerstone in the revival of Chianti Classico.  Wine is not the only focus of Marco and Lorenza's attention; Castello di Ama is also home to an ambitious and generous project to promote contemporary art. Marco regularly invites artists to Ama to create art that is inspired by the landscape, much like Marco's wines.

The serata was attended by students, Fellows, and guests with a connection to Italian studies and culture. The event was organised by Dr Ambrogio Camozzi Pistoja, the current holder of the Keith Sykes Research Fellowship. Keith Sykes funds the Italian evening, and supports an annual lecture, a studentship in Medieval Italian Literature, and the Research Fellowship in Italian Studies at Pembroke.
