We are thrilled to welcome to Pembroke College Nicky Spence, described in The Times as “one of our brightest young tenors", to perform a recital of Shakespeare settings.

He has already appeared in leading roles at The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, The Metropolitan Opera, New York, Oper Frankfurt, ENO, and Madrid's Teatro Real. He has an impressive and growing discography, and Gramophone Magazine recently wrote of his CD of Strauss Songs: "Nicky Spence is superb. The voice has recently grown to encompass more heroic roles and we hear that in this selection, in the bright, lively tone and ringing top… He deals heroically with Strauss’s more outrageous demands and, perhaps most importantly, he has just the right interpretative keenness and enthusiasm to put a persuasive case for everything he sings here." As a recitalist he is a regular at London's Wigmore Hall, on BBC Radio 3, at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam and Zurich's Tonhalle.

He will be joined by regular duo partner Joseph Middleton, Pembroke's College Musician, recently described in The New York Times as 'the perfect accompanist" and winner of the Young Artist Award at the coveted Royal Philharmonic Society Awards - the highest recognition for live classical music making in the UK.

Tickets: £12 adults / £8 College members / £5 students
