Two Pembroke Students Selected For Boat Race Crews

Last Sunday, 29th March, CUBC released the names of the Blue Boat and Goldie crews who should have been rowing in the Boat Race that day, had it not been cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Jonty Page (2016, Engineering) was selected at two in the Blue Boat and Rob Harris (2017 Engineering) at five in Goldie.

Pembroke had three rowers trialling for the men’s and women’s Blue Boats this year: Jonty, Rob and Laura Stewart (2018, Economics). Jonty, a final-year undergraduate, learned to row with PCBC as a Fresher and was selected for the CUBC Development Squad at the end of his first year. He trialled in his third and fourth years and rowed in last year’s victorious Goldie crew. This was Rob's third year as a trialist and the third consecutive year he was named in the Goldie crew. Laura was trialling for the second year running.

The College would like to congratulate Jonty and Rob on being selected for these crews. It knows just how much hard work both they and Laura put in to try and achieve selection over the past six months.

While it is a great shame that Jonty won’t be eligible for next year’s crew, as he will be graduating this summer, we wish Rob and Laura the best of luck for making it into the Blue Boat in 2021.
